Camp Community Council welcome the allocation of 241.362
Euros through the Equal Opportunities Programme of the Department of
Justice, Equality and Law Reform.
The money will be used to construct a new purpose built
Childcare Centre with facilities for a crèche, preschool and after school
service. The service is badly needed in the area and will be put to good
use, as it is the first centre of its kind in the Dingle Peninsula.
Camp Community Council also acknowledge gratefully the
support of Meitheal Forbartha Na Gaeltachta at the Department of Agriculture
who allocated 59,000 Euros towards the extension of the Community Sports and
Recreational Centre.
Thanks to Antaine O Se agus foireann MFG, Baile An
Fheirtearaigh, agus Mairin Ui Conchuir Childcare Officer, and Ann Moynihan,
Community Worker Southern Health Board and Health Board Personnel for their
advise, support and assistance.

On January 24th. 2002
last, West Kerry Roads Action Group had their petition
concerning funding for the N86 Tralee/Dingle National Secondary
Road heard at the European Parliament. The Petitions Committee
chaired by Vitalino Gemelli of Italy ruled that further examinations
be carried out and the petition should remain open, despite
presentations made by the National Roads Authority which stated
that the N86 was receiving as much support as other roads in its
category. The Roads Action Group have carried out extensive
research and are concerned that they are not receiving their fair
share.
Munster MEP John
Cushnahan supported the petition and Prionsios De Rossa
Vice-Chairman of the Petitions Committee also spoke strongly in
support of the Irish deputation. The Group also received support
from Welsh MEP Eurig Wyn.

West
Kerry Roads Action Group welcome the upgrading of the Tralee/Dingle
N86 National Secondary. The
present resurfacing of sections of the road is making life a lot
easier for everybody. A good road surface is what people are
looking for, not major highways. The European Parliament who allocate major
structural funding for roads infrastructure to this country, are
still examining the Petition taken by the West Kerry Roads Action
Group to the Petitions Committee last January which
questioned the fair distribution of funding.
The National Roads Authority may well have to look at how and where
money is spent. The larger cities of
Dublin and Cork have been eating up 75% of the funding.
It is clear that more has to be spent on rural infrastructure to
ensure that we can compete economically.
